La Roche University is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Financial Aid Counselor.  As a member of the Enrollment Management Division, the Financial Aid Counselor advises students and families regarding the various aspects and guidelines of the financial aid process; the position also supports the administration of multiple student aid programs at the University.

This staff position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is eligible for corresponding full-time benefits. The annual salary for this position starts at $35,568.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to students and/or their parents regarding federal, state, institutional, and other aid related matters, such as scholarship information, loan eligibility, and application deadlines.
  • Responsible for packaging, verification, and evaluation of student files in compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Revise financial aid awards upon changes in housing status, changes in enrollment status, and/or notification of additional financial aid resources from third parties.
  • Assist with certifying federal and private education loans for students and parents.
  • Assist with processing state grant award and reconciliation rosters for PA and other states as applicable.
  • Process Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) forms and program payments.
  • Respond to financial aid questions submitted through the office email system, phone calls, virtual and in-person visits and/or other methods of communication.
  • Collaborate with other campus departments, such as Admissions, Student Accounts, Registrar, and Housing and Residence Life.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with reconciling various financial aid programs.
  • Attend professional training as requested or required.
  • Ability to conduct financial aid presentations in group settings.
  • Non-traditional work hours, such as evenings and/or weekends may be necessary.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary degree with a minimum 2 years of Financial Aid experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Jenzabar Financial Aid (JFA) and Jenzabar One (J1) software is preferred 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Appropriate organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
