If you find yourself struggling, help is available. La Roche University offers one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring and Supplemental Instruction.
At La Roche you have access to the most qualified tutors, all of whom are required to meet specific academic requirements and undergo extensive training and supervision. Our peer tutor training program is certified through the International Tutor Certification Program, sponsored by the College Reading & Learning Association.
Peer Tutoring Services
Drop-in Tutoring
These drop-in spaces feature trained peer tutors who are available several hours a week to assist students with their academic work. Students are welcome to attend any of the scheduled hours without an appointment.
One-on-One Peer Tutoring
We offer individualized peer tutoring to accommodate students whose needs are not able to be met through drop-in tutoring.
Students who are unable to attend drop-in hours may request a peer tutor, free of charge, for up to two hours of tutoring per subject each week. Individualized tutoring sessions are conducted on campus. Sessions are scheduled on days and times that are mutually convenient for both the student and peer tutor.
Please note: Because we rely on qualified student tutors to staff our peer tutoring program, we are not always able to fulfill every request for tutoring.
Complete an online Tutoring Request Form, and a peer tutor will be assigned to you in a timely manner.
Supplemental Instruction Program
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program that targets traditionally difficult classes and provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated sessions. These sessions are voluntary; however, students who participate tend to earn higher course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants.
SI is designed to help you actively review targeted course content and to help you learn new strategies for learning the material. SI does not target individual students who may be experiencing academic difficulties; SI only targets classes that are known to be difficult for large numbers of students.
