The main celebrant will be The Most Reverend David A. Zubik, M.S.Ed., D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh assisted by Deacon Tim M. Killmeyer. Co-concelebrants will be Father Peter Horton and Father David Siroki, La Roche University.
The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a Catholic liturgy that takes place around the world to mark the start of the academic year. The tradition dates back to the Middle Ages and is a time to:
- Ask for guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit
- Thank God for creation and salvation
- Invite the Holy Spirit to be with the community
- Grow in joy, prayerfulness and wisdom
- Welcome the new school year
- Look forward to a year of learning and engagement
- Rededicate oneself to the school's mission
- Renew friendships
- Welcome new members
The Mass is open to all students and employees, regardless of religious beliefs.
