We are committed to actively affirming all social identities of students, and there are a number of initiatives that are aimed at educating on social justice issues that affect our communities encouraging dialogue across differences.
The goal of this office is to ensure that students feel heard, included and have equal access while also charging all members of the campus community to extend beyond what is comfortable and grow through engagement with the unfamiliar. Participation in programs that expose you to diverse ideas is critical to academic, professional and social development. It is in those spaces where knowledge is increased, perspectives are challenged and authentic relationships are formed.
The desire is for you to have transformative experiences through this office that empower you to live out the La Roche mission of pursuing peace and justice. I hope that during your time here, you develop a sense of agency and are courageous enough to stand with the marginalized, stand up against injustice and stand for the embracing of diversity, dignity and respect.
