Student Teaching
Student teaching provides you with the field experience that you need to be a well-rounded professional in today’s field of education. We pair our education majors with a mentor teacher so that they can learn firsthand the responsibilities of classroom instruction. You'll plan and implement lessons, create and administer assessments, work collaboratively with professionals, and assume the role of the classroom teacher.
Requirements to Begin Student Teaching
- Completion of all coursework
- Adviser approval
- 3.0 QPA overall
- Completion of student teaching application form
- Meet Basic Skills requirement set forth by PDE
- Resume
- TB Test verification
- Current Act 33/151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- Current Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record
- Current FBI Clearances
Exit Requirements for Student Teaching
- PDE 430 and 430A with at least a “satisfactory” rating
- Portfolio in progress
- Updated resume
- Current clearances
