The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at La Roche University is an exciting program that prepares you to meet the growing mental health challenges facing individuals and societies worldwide.
As a student in the program, you’ll gain specialized skills and knowledge to address a wide spectrum of mental health disorders and needs. Whether you want to help individuals, couples or families, you’ll be equipped to make a direct impact on improving mental health.
Upon successful completion of this program, you will be prepared to sit for the National Counselor Exam (NCE). You also will:
- Demonstrate performance of the highest ethical and legal standards in the mental health profession.
- Evaluate effective counseling skills and practices which promote client welfare while respecting the clients’ diversity and cultural contexts.
- Demonstrate knowledge of typical and atypical developmental patterns across the life span.
- Utilize the basic principles of group dynamics and group therapeutic conditions that facilitate client growth and development.
- Incorporate clinical intentionality when determining appropriate treatment goals for the differentiated needs of individuals, couples, families, adults, adolescents and children.
Students may complete the program in two years (full time) or four years (part time).
Admissions Requirements
The requirements below are required with your online application. All applicants will be considered, regardless of undergraduate major.
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. A lower GPA will be considered with an additional interview process.
- Two letters of Recommendation. One personal and one professional reference letter are required. References from family members, friends or close professional colleagues are not acceptable; supervisors or faculty members are appropriate references.
For International Students
In addition to meeting the standard academic criteria for the program to which you are applying, international applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. All international students must take one of the tests indicated below and meet the university minimum score requirement:
- A minimum TOEFL iBT of 79
- A minimum IELTS overall band score of 6.5
- A minimum Duolingo test score of 1255
- Valid Green Card
