La Roche University’s international management major is designed to help students understand the international aspects of managing a business enterprise.
To succeed in today’s global economy, it is crucial to understand the international operations of business enterprises and other institutions.
Professionals must consider how cultural ideals, politics, economics and geography affect business decisions.
In addition to having critical thinking, problem solving and business skills, those who want to work in international management must understand global economics and multicultural business practices, and how to apply business practices on a global scale.
This major helps you to become familiar with the international economic and legal environment through a comprehensive review of:
- International trade
- Foreign investment
- The international monetary and legal systems
You’ll also develop a global perspective by learning a foreign language, studying world geography and world politics, and by taking other courses with an international emphasis.
Students are strongly encouraged to pursue internships while in the program. Past students have held internships at the U.S. Department of Commerce, the World Affairs Council, U.S. Steel, Koppers and the City of Pittsburgh.
The international management faculty, all of whom have advanced degrees in their disciplines, also have a wealth of international business experience. Instructors come from various backgrounds, including careers in development banking, international finance and international law.
