Sister Clarice Carlson entered the Congregation from St. Basil Parish in Carrick in 1949. Sr. Clarice received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Duquesne University. She furthered her studies in mathematics and biology at the University of Detroit in Michigan and the University of Illinois in Urbana. Sr. Clarice received a Master’s degree in Education (Counselor Education) from the University of Pittsburgh.

Sr. Clarice Carlson began her association with the college in 1979 working with Sr. Mathilda Kelly, the founder of Project Achievement. She has served La Roche University as a woman of Providence for the past 25 years. Through these years Clarice has worked with Project Achievement/Act 101 as student program coordinator and academic counselor. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member teaching mathematics during this time.

As a woman of Providence Sr. Clarice exemplifies simplicity and humility in her life. She is characterized by her fidelity and dedicated service to the Sisters of Divine Providence, to La Roche University and to her God. As a wise counselor she is always open to her students and imparts far more than subject matter and academic advice to them. She models for them and counsels them about a way of life. Sr. Clarice encourages and challenges her students to become their very best selves.

Sr. Clarice lives out the Providence charism of trusting in and openness to our Provident God. Her own life is a lesson in God’s Providence as she strives to be God’s Providence to those she encounters each day.
