Assistant Director of Student Accounts

The Assistant Director of Student Accounts, working within the Student Accounts team, serves as a key point of contact for students and families regarding billing, payments, and account inquiries. Reporting to the Director of Student Accounts, this position will be responsible for managing the unpaid balances of all students. The successful candidate will foster a welcoming, respectful, and student-centered environment while ensuring financial transactions are handled accurately and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage past due accounts, ensuring timely follow up and resolution.
  • Serve as primary contact for third party collection agencies.
  • Develop and monitor metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of collection methods and agencies.
  • Engage with students with outstanding balances to facilitate the creation of payment plans to keep the student in good financial standing.
  • Prepare and analyze aging reports to identify delinquent accounts and plan necessary actions, such as enforcing financial holds, registration cancellation or sending past due accounts to collections.
  • Create and update all 1098t forms.
  • Manage all third-party billings related to the VA, SACM and other agencies.
  • Assist students and answers inquiries (via in person, phone and e-mail) with an emphasis on quality customer service.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Offices of Financial Aid, Registrar, Residence Life and other departments around campus to enhance students overall financial and academic success, realizing that your contribution aids in student retention.
  • Compile and complete journal entries when appropriate.
  • Participate in annual Welcome Days and new student orientation for undergraduate, graduate and ESL programs to help explain billing, tuition and housing.
  • Assist with any requests from the external auditors during the annual audit of the University.
  • Serve as a backup for various responsibilities related to other members of the Student Accounts team.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience.  
  • Technology literate, including all Microsoft Products

The annual salary range for this position is $58,000-$66,000. This position is 100% onsite and reports to the Director of Student Accounts.
