La Roche University Adds Family Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate Program

PITTSBURGH, May 1, 2023 – La Roche University is now accepting applications for its new Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Post Master’s Certificate Program.

Approved and accredited by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, the program is designed for nurses who are seeking to advance their education and train as professional nurses.

Classes begin in Fall 2023. A list of application requirements is available online.

“The new FNP program prepares students for critical roles in providing primary care services to patients across the lifespan, from birth to end of life,” said Associate Provost and Academic Dean Rosemary McCarthy, Ph.D., RN. “La Roche prides itself on providing a supportive and collaborative learning environment, with a faculty of experienced nurse practitioners and other health care professionals who are dedicated to helping students succeed.”

The 30-credit FNP program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive education in advanced nursing practice, including diagnostic and treatment skills, decision making, health promotion and disease prevention, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with other health care providers. With a focus on evidence-based practice and patient-centered care, La Roche’s FNP program prepares graduates to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families.

Graduates will meet the criteria for taking both American Nurses Credentialing Center and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners certification exams.

Offered as a part-time program, FNP combines classroom learning, hands-on clinical experiences, and opportunities for research and scholarship to provide a well-rounded education. Students can complete the program within two years.

“We welcome applicants who are committed to advancing their careers, and who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of their patients,” Dr. McCarthy said.
