La Roche University Appoints Emily K. Beyer as Director of Major Gifts

La Roche University is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily K. Beyer as its new Director of Major Gifts in the Office of University Advancement. She began her new role on June 18, 2025.
Ms. Beyer brings more than two decades of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on donor cultivation, strategic solicitation, and philanthropic engagement. Most recently, she served as a Major Gifts Officer at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in the Division of Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role she secured over $4.25 million in philanthropic support and deepened her expertise in higher education and health care fundraising, including major and planned gifts.
In her new role at La Roche, Ms. Beyer will lead efforts to expand the University’s major gift program, managing a national portfolio of donors and prospects. She will play a key role in advancing institutional priorities through leadership-level philanthropic support, working in close collaboration with University leadership, faculty, and staff.
“Emily is a mission-driven fundraiser who brings energy, professionalism, and a proven ability to build lasting relationships with donors,” said George Barron, Vice President for University Advancement. “Her experience and commitment to higher education make her a tremendous asset to La Roche as we continue to grow our fundraising capacity and impact.”
Prior to her work in higher education, Ms. Beyer held multiple roles at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, where she managed flagship fundraising events such as the annual Summer Safari and biennial Zoo Gala—raising up to $1 million—and secured gifts from individuals and corporations, including one of $3 million.
She earned a Master of Education from Point Park University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Her approach to fundraising is grounded in relationship-building and a deep belief in the transformative power of education.
“I’m honored to join La Roche University at such an exciting time in its history,” Ms. Beyer said. “I look forward to connecting with alumni, donors, and friends of the University who are passionate about supporting La Roche’s mission and the success of its students.”
