La Roche College’s Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training to Begin May 2017

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 20, 2017 – La Roche University invites humanitarian aid workers, recent graduates and working professionals to participate in its annual Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training Program from May 15 to 19.

Designed for those who want to enter the field of humanitarian and emergency aid, the program provides specialized instruction in disaster relief response, sustainable humanitarian aid and global development. Students from all over the world will gain knowledge from local and regional experts while participating in introductory training and hands-on simulations. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate, referrals to field work and the potential for undergraduate or graduate coursework credit. Room and board at La Roche’s campus in the North Hills are included in the cost of tuition.

“This program is a life-changing experience. It’s amazing to find a group of professionals willing to train others,” former participant Isaac Moore said. “The program is an eye-opener, and the simulations are amazing. There are a lot of resource materials and opportunities to meet people from different walks of life.”

Offered in partnership with the premier training agency RedR, the Essentials of Humanitarian Aid Training course focuses on key competencies in the field, and includes case studies and emergency response simulations. In addition to the RedR training, the course includes special evening programs on current issues, history, and specialty areas such as humanitarian aid technology, crowdsourcing, job hunting and local NGOs.

Applicants must hold a college degree or be in the process of earning one to be eligible, and must apply online by April 20. For more information please email humanitarianaid@laroche.edu.
