State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement - (SERA)

The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement is an agreement among member states, districts, and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offerings of post-secondary distance education courses and programs.

Its intention is to make it easier for students to take online courses and complete field experiences offered by post-secondary institutions based on another state. Pennsylvania's SARA membership is effective January 1, 2017 and La Roche University is now a participating SARA institution. By participating in SARA, La Roche is able to operate in every SARA state. The SARA Map identifies other participating states and districts.

A few states are not participating members of SARA. Information on these states can be found on this list which is current as of January 3, 2017. If you have any questions regarding state authorization, please contact Erin Pottgen at erin.pottgen@laroche.edu Please note that SARA does not address professional licensure issues.

Professional Licensures

La Roche College is approved to offer programs that may lead to licensure/certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. La Roche cannot confirm that our programs meet the requirements for licensure/certification in any other state or commonwealth.

If you are considering enrolling in an education or nursing program and being certified/licensed in a state other than Pennsylvania, please check the specific requirements for certification/licensure in your state. If you are considering other professions that my require certification/licensure, you should first seek the guidance of your state's requirements.

Distance Education Complaint Process

La Roche College students who live outside of the state of Pennsylvania, or are engaged in distance education courses at La Roche while in a state other than Pennsylvania, please refer to the Academic Policies website for resolving issues and complaints internally.

If you are unable to resolve an issue internally, you may contact the appropriate state agency. We ask that you please try to resolve all complaints with the University internally before going to an outside agency.
