Jaime Guan

Meet Jaime Guan, a senior majoring in accounting and management.

Why did you choose LRU for your major?

LRU is a small school, which means there are more opportunities for individualized attention, mentorship and engaging classroom discussions.

How would you describe LRU and its faculty to an incoming student?

Professors are easy to talk to outside of class. They set aside time each week to meet with students, answer emails quickly, and are happy to chat about classwork, research or career plans.

What do you like most about your major?

Career opportunities. In accounting there are many different types of jobs you can do. You might become an auditor, tax accountant, financial analyst, forensic accountant or management accountant. This means you have options based on what you like to do and what you’re good at.

How did LRU prepare you for your internships?

LRU helped me get my resume in perfect shape. Through LRU and the Accounting Consortium, I also landed eight to nine interviews, which helped me to develop my interpersonal and interview skills.

Favorite class and why?

Accounting with Computers. This class gave me all the knowledge to succeed in my first internship. I didn’t have to go through much training because this class was very focused on workplace needs.

Proudest moment at LRU:

Graduation will be my proudest moment. Being in school is not easy and requires a lot of sacrifice. Earning my bachelor’s degree will be my proudest moment.

Favorite spot on campus:

CC Square because peers and friends can gather to do homework or just spend time together.
